About Hanse House
Built as a warehouse for Hanseatic merchants in what was a thriving port, in 1475, the property is the last surviving Hanse building in England. Concerns over the state of the building reached Prince Charles who came to visit the property and said it should not fall into further disrepair after Norfolk County Council decided to sell the Hanse House which they used as the former registry office. The Hanse House has been privately restored by James Lee who bought the building in 2011. The Hanse House currently houses The Rathskeller Wine Bar and Bistro, The Norfolk Building Company, Maggie and the Dragon, BB Healthcare, Victim Support, Citizens Advice, flats, ceremony rooms, function rooms and currently has office space to let.
27 King Street
27 King Street is a Grade 2* listed building and was purchased from Borough Council King’s Lynn and West Norfolk in 2002, and was at that time on the English Heritage at Risk Register. Local businessman James Lee purchased the building and within a year of purchase restoration works were complete and the building was leased. The building now provides both commercial and residential accommodation on historic King Street. There are currently charming Georgian rooms available to let.
