November sees the start of festivities in King’s Lynn with a calendar packed full of events that are guaranteed to bring festive cheer to the Town.
First up is Christmas Light Switch On, on Sunday 23rd November. A free lantern making workshop will be held from 2pm – 4pm at 114 High Street, next door to The Deck of Cards. All materials will be provided to help families make their own illuminated creation that they can use to take part in the lantern parade that will wend its way to Tuesday Market Place from 4:20pm, ready for the big switch on. The parade will be led by the popular, funk and soul East Angles Brass Band, with extra glamour and glitter provided by the Glitter Belles, who will be sparkling around the town centre from 2pm.
Then, from Saturday 29th November, and every weekend until Sunday 21st December, Santa’s Workshop will be open for crafting, letter writing and meeting the man himself to receive a small gift. Head down the High Street to No 114 (next door to The Deck of Cards) to be greeted by one of Mother Christmas’ Elves. The workshop will be open from 10-12:30, 1-4pm, no booking required and a charge of £2per child will be made on the door. This event is appropriate for children up to the age of 10.
The annual Festive Merchants Market returns to Tuesday Market Place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th December from 10-4pm. Packed with gift ideas from local, independent businesses come and soak up the atmosphere and tick off your present list for what will be a super-festive weekend with street entertainment, the Market, Santa’s Workshop and the Inaugural Christmas Tree Festival at The Minster.
And that’s not all, there will be street entertainment every weekend from 23rd November, with much-loved Gran Turismo making a return appearance, and, shoppers will be asked to vote for their favourite the Christmas window, the annual competition re-opens from 29th November.
