Summer in King’s Lynn is anything but quiet. The town comes alive with a packed calendar of events – from vibrant markets to live music, the well-loved Festival Too, open air film nights and family-friendly days out, there’s something happening every week from May to September. Here’s your guide to making the most of the summer events in King’s Lynn Town Centre.
Family Fun for All
If you’re looking for ways to keep the whole family entertained, The Walks is the place to be. There’s a bunch of lively events for all ages taking place throughout the season.
Things kick off with the Lions Family Fun Day on Sunday 7 June, with plenty of family-friendly activities to enjoy from noon until 5pm. Funfair rides, action wheels, Punch and Judy, and princesses – it promises to be an action-packed event for the whole family.
On the following Saturday (13 June), the Manifest Summer Festival takes place, bringing even more energy to The Walks. From 12pm, enjoy international music, inflatables, games for all, plus delicious food!
Later in the season, the Frontline Festival returns on Saturday 22 August, bigger and better than ever. With emergency vehicle displays, fitness challenges, police dog demonstrations, live entertainment, food stalls, cadet demos and parades, it’s a day full of exciting activities for everyone to enjoy!
And, throughout the Summer Holidays, the Vancouver Quarter hosts several events full of family-friendly fun for all!
Celebrate Heritage and Community
There’s no better way to experience the town’s character than through its community events.
The Merchants Markets are a must for exploring handmade goods from local crafters, makers and producers. Discover sweet treats, unique crafts, treats for your furry friends, homegrown plants, savoury baked goods and more – you can read our full guide to the Merchants Market here. Merchants Markets take place in the heart of King’s Lynn at the historic Tuesday Market Place, on the last Saturday of the month until September, 9am – 3pm.
For something more high-energy, the Hanseatic Festival of Watersports returns to the Quayside on the 21 – 22 June. It’s one of Europe’s biggest watersports events, featuring boats reaching speeds of up to 100mph, quayside viewing, live music, and Saturday night fireworks.
And of course, the popular Heritage Open Day is on the 13 September – a real opportunity to have a sneak peek at buildings not usually open to the public. On the same day, you’ll also find Classic Car Day at the Tuesday Market Place, hosting over 200 classic cars and live entertainment for everyone to enjoy.
Music All Summer Long
Music lovers are in for a treat with this fantastic lineup of live music across the town during Summer.
Every Sunday, from 7 June – 13 September, 2pm – 4pm, Music in The Bandstand returns to The Walks. Bring a picnic, find a spot on the grass, and enjoy everything from brass bands to local favourites.
This year also marks the 75th anniversary of the renowned King’s Lynn Festival, one of the UK’s longest-running arts festivals. Taking place throughout July, the festival will celebrate this milestone year with an exciting programme of music, performances and entertainment in venues across the town.
The much-loved Festival Too makes its return at King’s Staithe Square on the 27 & 28 June for its first weekend of live music, followed by two more weekends at the Tuesday Market Place on 3, 4, 10 & 11 July. Drawing regular crowds of over 10,000, this free music festival is known for its lively atmosphere and impressive headline acts.
After Festival Too, the Tuesday Market Place continues to be filled with live music and a buzzing atmosphere. Folk in the Town takes place on the 18 and 19 July – two days of free live music, from traditional folk to Americana, folk rock, and bluegrass. Music in the Marketplace on 2 & 30 August brings more live music, and Soulful Sunday on 9 August hosts an afternoon of live soul music.
Food, Culture & Entertainment
Summer wouldn’t be complete without great food and entertainment!
If you’re a foodie, you won’t want to miss the 2026 Food Festival on the 25 and 26 July, two full days featuring a variety of food & drink stalls in the Tuesday Market Place – bring your appetite!
Open Air Film Nights return for the Summer, 3 evenings of film, food and feel-good vibes in the Tuesday Market Place on the 17 July, 7 August and 4 September. Enjoy street food from 5pm, followed by the film showing at 7pm, and be sure to bring a chair as seating is limited! Check out what films are being shown on our what’s on page.
Pride Parade & Party in the Park takes place on the 15 August at The Walks, bringing with it a full day of activities, live music, and a parade throughout the town.
And for a touch of nostalgia, step back in time at the Tuesday Market Place at the 40’s and 50’s Weekend on the 23 August, and the 60’s and 70’s Weekend on 6 September.
