Open Air Film Nights Return to King’s Lynn

Summer has arrived and with it the return of the popular Open Air Film Nights on Tuesday Market Place, King’s Lynn.

Back for the third year in a row, and initially trialled with the support of the Love Your Market Town Fund, the film nights have grown year on year to become a key fixture in King’s Lynn’s summer events calendar. Combining classic blockbusters with street food and refreshments, it’s a great opportunity for a relaxed evening with friends and family, and a welcoming atmosphere if you’re thinking about coming solo.

Discover King’s Lynn, the event organiser, kicks off their first open air film night with an all-time classic, Back to The Future (1985) on Friday 17 July, followed by Mean Girls (2004) on Friday 7 August, and Hook (1991) on Friday 4 September. Food and drink will be available from 5pm, and films start at 7pm. No ticket or booking required, just turn up, grab a seat, or bring your own, and enjoy the night.

Street food vendors attending all three dates include The Pizza Slice Guy, Reeseys ice cream and Rusty Krab Rum Shop, offering a range of refreshing cold drinks, rum slushies, beers and ciders. There will also be some new faces serving alongside them. Eat Ya Fajita will bring authentic Mexican flavours to the July screening, The Bucket List will serve their stacked out, loaded fries in August, and Rabbit & Run will join the September date with a tasty selection of freshly made flatbreads.

“I’m really looking forward to our film nights this year.” Says Vicky Etheridge, Manager of Discover King’s Lynn. “They are one of my favourite events, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and Tuesday Market Place looks wonderful as the sun starts to set behind the screen. It’s a special event and I’m grateful to our levy payers for their support that enables us to put it on. Thanks must also go to King’s Lynn Cinema Club for their help to secure licences for the films, and to the Borough Council for loan of their stage, screen and tech to make it all happen.”

If you plan to come to one of the screenings, you are advised to come early to grab one of the limited tables or deckchairs, otherwise bring your own chair to settle in and enjoy the film.
