King’s Lynn’s annual Light Switch On returns to the Town Centre on Sunday the 27th November with a full line-up of festive fun for all the family to enjoy!
Discover King’s Lynn’s pop-up venue, The Place, will bursting with Christmas activities from 11a.m. Families can expect to enjoy free Christmas biscuit/cake decorating with Norma’s Kitchen, festive face painting with Leah’s Little Faces and sweet treats from local fudge-maker, So Sweet.
Visitors to The Place can also contribute to Discover King’s Lynn’s Chain for Ukraine; a festive paper chain in Ukrainian colours designed in solidarity with Ukrainian refugees. Discover King’s Lynn hopes that people will add their own link to the chain to show Ukrainian families displaced to King’s Lynn that they are in our thoughts this Christmas.
The crafting continues for those little ones yet to post their letters to Santa. The Place will be hosting a letter writing station for the Vancouver Quarter’s Christmas Wishlist Competition in which one lucky family will win £250 in vouchers just days before Christmas! As well as including the latest toys, games and presents they may want this year, children are being encouraged to think of others when it comes to wishes they’d really like to come true this Christmas. For example, treating a grandparent to afternoon tea, supporting a local charity, or ensuring that Ukrainian refugees receive a special gift during the festive season.
Speaking of competitions, you can also pop by The Place on the 27th November to pick up one of Russen & Turner’s Christmas Story Competition sheets. Designed for children aged 11 and under, the competition devised by the local estate agent asks children to write their own 500-word festive tale to be in with the chance of winning a £65 Entertainer voucher, £200 worth of Waterstones vouchers for their school and to have their story read out on Radio West Norfolk! Stories must be submitted by the 9th December, pop into Russen & Turner (17 High Street) for more details.
The festivities will continue beyond The Place and around the Town. If you’re out and about in the Town Centre expect to be greeted by mesmerising Living Flowers Girls and a Christmas brass band funded by Discover King’s Lynn. Perfect for getting you in the festive spirit before King’s Lynn switches its lights on!
The town’s Christmas lights will be turned on from the Tuesday Market Place at 5pm, preceded by the usual lantern parade winding through the town at 4:45pm.
